Growth

Large, medium or small breed puppies, all have different growing speeds, depending on their size and speed of growth proportional to the final weight. Large breed puppies deserve special attention; though they have a comparatively small weight at birth, their growing period is quite fast .Half of the weight of an adult is complete at 5 to 6 months.

The puppy keeps growing up to 18 and 24 months, and by that time he has multiplied his weight by 80 or 100 times. In a small breed puppy, half of his weight is reached on his third month and his growing period will be stabilized within 10 months .
These differences show us that problems related to Bone-Articulation occur mainly on large breeds, and emphasize the importance of the feeding process. Large amounts of high energy food leads to fast and non healthy growth, causing what might become a permanent infirmity .The period of growth, the amount of exercise and energy used, the digestive organ’s different weights, and the average life span are all elements to consider.
